What is The Big Event?
The Big Event is a student-led, community service day designed to say thank you to the community of Chadron. Started at Texas A&M University in 1982, The Big Event now occurs at 125 campuses across the nation.
April 20, 2013 marked the beginning of this tradition at Chadron State College. More than 400 CSC student, faculty and staff volunteers completed 15 jobsites in Chadron and surrounding areas. Volunteers visited residents at retirement communities, beautified city parks, painted in several buildings and much more.
This annual tradition continues to attract hundreds of CSC volunteers who complete an average of 50 jobsites each year. The Big Event will be back in April 2025!
